Thank you for your interest in our programs.
Learn to Swim
We offer swimming lessons to ages 4+ at various ability levels. Our focus is on water safety to help prevent drowning as well as beginning swimming techniques as used in a competitive swimming environment. This is a perfect transitional program to Pendleton Swim Club, our competitive team. For more information about Learn to Swim, click on the Swim Lessons link on our home page.
Competitive Teams
We have different teams depending on age group and ability level. Our teams participate from September through February in a 25yard length pool (known as 'Short Course' / SCY), and from April through July in a 50meter length pool (known as 'Long Course' / LCM). We accept swimmers ages 5 and up for our team that are independent in their swimming. We have 5 different groups:
- Ponies - Focus is on having fun while learning proper mechanics for freestyle and backstroke and very beginning skills in breaststroke and fly.
- Broncos - Focus is on learning proper mechanics of all 4 competitive strokes while building confidence at swim meets. The goals for this group are to gain experience in USA Swimming competitions, learn how to compete in all four competitive strokes, and be able to progress through the program.
- Colts - Focus is on continuing progress in proper mechanics of all 4 competitive strokes, learning starts and turns, and building confidence at swim meets. The goals for this group are to gain experience in USA Swimming competitions, learn how to compete in all four competitive strokes, and be able to progress through the program. Goals of this group include qualifying for divisional championship meets!
- Mustangs - Training in this group emphasizes stroke technique and aerobic conditioning. This is our highest level of Age group swimming before high school. Goals of this group include qualifying for divisional and state championship meets.
- Arabians - This is for our high school swimmers ages 14 years old or over. Emphasis is on advanced competitive stroke technique, rigorous physical conditioning, competitive racing strategies, and dryland conditioning. Goals for this group are to qualify for age determinant championship meets at the state and national level.
To join us:
If you feel your child is qualified for the competitive swim team, we ask that your child join us for a scheduled try out. This allows the coaching staff to form a better seasonal plan for your child. We will have a scheduled practice for tryouts before season starts. If you are unable to make that tryout or are joining later in the season, you can schedule a tryout. Please contact the coaching staff by using the "contact" tab on the main tool bar. To ensure the proper training and progress of our current swimmers, the coaching staff does reserve the right to limit registration during the 6 week periods prior to our short course and long course championship meets. Once your child has a tryout, you will be able to use the registration link at the top of our home page.
Pendleton Swim Club is committed to bringing high quality aquatics to the children and teens of Madison County. We are glad you are considering us as a provider of athletic programming for your child!
